Senior Researcher in Computational Genomics

: The group of Computational Genomics at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center seeks a motivated postdoc to coordinate ongoing and future studies to identify the genetic basis of complex traits in humans within the Marato TV3 2011 project. The candidate will be entitled to coordinate and supervise undergraduate and PhD students, as well as computer scientists. In particular, we require additional support and coordination in several studies related to Imputation and GWAS analysis on several diseases, like Type 2 Diabetes, Asthma, and Cancer. The major activity of the candidate will consist in defining and implementing computational methods devoted for this type of analysis, as well as to de-novo generate tools for functional analysis and interpretation of the results though systems biology approaches. In addition, the candidate will have to interact and coordinate collaborations between our group and other groups of similar and other research areas, such as computer scientists. The ultimate goal of the project Marato TV3 2011 associated to this position is to understand the molecular and genetic basis of complex disease. The candidate is also expected to apply for grants in competitive international calls.
Candidates are required to have the PhD and additional PostDoc experience of at least 2 years, in a similar research academic environment.
