: The BSC offers a position for a computer scientist in the context of collaborative efforts emerging between the computer and the life sciences departments in order to generate a computational platform for personalized medicine as pat of an internal Severo Ochoa project. The generation of tools and facilities for personalized medicine requires strong synergies between disciplines to tackle key computational aspects (storage, management and analysis) that constitute bottlenecks when dealing with next generation sequencing data related to human health, from complex metabolic disease to cancer. In particular, we are generating efficient computational environments for GWAS, genome assemblies and for the identification of disease related somatic mutations. A great challenge is to bring these two disciplines (life and computer sciences) together and work with a common goal. For this reason, the BSC seeks computer scientists that are able to contribute and to drive the bridging between these two fields. The mission of this person will consist of, on one side, provide with technical support and, on the other, to enhance and push forward the communication and collaboration between these two departments.
